WHEELCHAIR TRANSPORTATION

A journey with room for you.

A suitable vehicle is only part of a good wheelchair trip. The right assistance, clear access, and a thoughtful plan matter too.

Start with the details that matter.

Wheelchair transportation generally uses an accessible vehicle with a ramp or lift and suitable securement. Providers differ in the chairs they can accommodate and the assistance they offer.

Good questions to ask.

  • What are the chair’s dimensions and combined rider-and-chair weight?
  • Is there step-free access at pickup and destination?
  • Can the rider remain in their chair, and is it suitable for transport?
  • Will a companion travel, and is a seat available?
  • What does door-to-door assistance include?
Don’t assume a driver can carry a rider or a chair on stairs. Describe the access and ask the provider to confirm a suitable, safe arrangement.

Know the full cost before you confirm.

Ask the provider for a complete quote, including pickup charges, mileage, waiting, return travel, after-hours fees, and cancellation terms. A request or conversation is not a confirmed booking.
